It’s Payback Time

What a day it was! In addition to the wonderful news posting seen below, Come also presented me with a very special birthday package in the mail. This generosity, combined with that of everyone who has contributed to our pledge drive this past month, has allowed me to renew‘s domain and hosting through the year 2008!

That’s why, as a birthday gift to the community, I have decided to extend a special one-time offer. For the next week, all the donators who are members of our “20 Dollar Club” will be able to attain their own copy of the History of the Elite CD, even if they donated long before the CD offer came about!

For history’s sake, here are the current members of the “TDC”:

Logan West (Shadow)
Scott Kessler (sdkess)
Micky Wright (Vectorman)
Peter Osterland
Chris Rayola
Thomas Andrews
Mark Jones
Paul Shepherd

Insane in the Train!

The unthinkable has happened. Again.

In 2002, we were sure we had the best strats possible down. Then Bryan Bosshardt came along and changed Aztec forever.

In 2003, we were sure again. Nothing else to find, right? Trent Hovis came along and Statue has never been the same since.

For nearly 3 years, we’ve been fine-tuning. Perfecting times. Finding little things to save tenths of a second. The feeling that something big was going to happen has been brewing for awhile, and it just did.

Henrik Norgren has re-invented how Train SA and 00A will be played, and has forever secured his spot in Goldeneye history. This new strat has already knocked 17 seconds off the total time, and will surely lead to more as it’s perfected and overplayed like everything else. The ideas have been out there for awhile, but Henrik was the first to finally put the puzzle together and be successful. The records now stand at 1:31 and 2:04, and are agreed to be far from maxed. The strategy given in the topic, paired with the SA vid will easily explain this new strat, so be sure to check those out.

The SA total time is now under 26:00, 00A is edging on 30:00, and we can realistically see the 1:16:00 total time mark being broken.

This is what The Elite is all about. Innovation, Imagination, Determination. Congrats to Henrik and those before him who have taken Goldeneye to the extreme.

Donation drive results

First, let me thank you all again for your generosity. It appears the donation rush has expired, so let me pause to thank everyone who contributed. The Donation Acknowledgements page has been updated to reflect the latest donations. There were a few uncertainties about the proper names to list or if to list any at all, so if you are among the donaters, please have look at that page and email me if I need to change something.

There were 6 new donaters and one very kind repeat donater. We have several new additions to the $20 club, which was a wonderful surprise. The total amount received once again has exceeded my expectations, especially the average amount of donations. To all my fellow Eliters, I extend the highest compliment; you own. Our dearest Ngamer has been forwarded the fruits of your generosity as of a few moments ago… may he spend it on new controllers for years to come.
