Events:
August 3rd - 
Okay, so we've had a few random mentions in magazines and on radio shows and other miscellaneous crap, but I think we all knew that these events were novelties at best. Well, as of this week, the-elite.net may've hit a true milestone in the realm of publicity. After being contacted by a fellow named Stephen Totilo, the-elite.net has received mention in an article about speed gaming on MTV.com. The article focuses heavily on our friends, the Speed Demos Archive, the very guys who (generously) host our speed runs. Perhaps more intriguingly, Stephen asked me to keep in contact with him, as he specializes in gaming at mtv.com. Cool, no? If you think you have any ideas that Stephen might like, send them my way and I'll pass it along (within reason). I think we're conscious of most everything that goes on in the console gaming world, so let's use that to... corner the market on console gaming, i.e... whore ourselves out some more. Or help the MTV guy keep his job; whichever.
In the meantime, the Summer Contest is breaking all kinds of records for participation, so keep it up guys. Studio audience, lock in those votes....*suspenseful music*

Three points of interest:
The Summer Contest is underway! You've got your bracket here, your matchups here, and your voting to ImNgamer on AIM. Vote totals are the highest ever, Bios are being created nightly, match writeups are being posted without fail... Everything's going like clockwork here this summer. Hot clockwork.
Secondly, you've got to give this latest Elite Creation a look! It's a site that me, YE and Come have been working on/thinking about for many months now, and we're all very proud of the result. Most of the congrats should go to YE, who was the one to actually sit down and bring the idea to life a couple weeks back. It's The Elite Quote Database, and it will change your life. Just having a place to store all of the funny moments and one-liners from Chat, private IMs, and the Boards would be cool enough, but with the QDB you're also invited to have your OWN say on just how funny these quotes are, bash.org style, which allows for the best of the best to rise to the top. And it's all members only, password protected so votes can't be spammed, and with a ton of neat little features and statistics (with more on the way). Needless to say, I just love this site to death. Nearly 100 quotes have been added, over 1000 votes have been cast, and we've already got 40+ members; there's plenty to amuse yourself with for hours already, so head over, Register, and get voting!

Hey guys, just wanted you to know I'm still alive. Today I come bearing... statistics! Basically, I investigated our standing with search engines, and came back with surprises both good and bed. Firstly, our Google page rank is at 5 currently, which is *very* reputable. For example, TheFacebook is a 6, and Ebaum's World is a 7. Also, there are approximately 400 links to the-elite.net from other sites, which has a lot to do with our solid page rank. I used search engine optimizing software at work to arrive at these numbers and the following; here are all the meta keywords that generated a top 50 result for either Google, MSN, or Yahoo:
