February 11, 2014 will forever be a historic date within the-elite, for it is on that date when GoldenEye 007 speedrunner and workhorse extraordinaire completed Depot Dark License to Kill (DLTK) becoming the first man to beat Goldeneye’s 20 levels on all difficulties; Agent, Secret Agent, 00 Agent, License to Kill and Dark License to Kill. DLTK is a 007 mode in the game with all enemy settings maxed. This mode is absurdly difficult and is a premiere challenge in any video game; effectively requiring at least 10 headshots to kill any guard, whereas any shot fired at Bond will almost certainly kill him. Beating any level on DLTK can take dozens, if not hundreds of hours of attempts, strategizing and planning. Not to mention the standard License to Kill (LTK) mode is not much easier. Bozon’s full completion of every level on every category is a truly incredible gaming achievement.
Bozon’s journey began in 2006 when he joined the-elite, to speedrun Goldeneye’s normal modes. Later that year, he beat his first DLTK level, Statue. At the time, three levels, Streets, Train and Silo had not been completed by anyone; many believing they were impossible. By mid 2008, Bozon had completed 13 of 20 levels on DLTK. A huge milestone came in April 2013 when, after 330 hours of play, Bozon became the first person (and still the only) to ever beat Silo DLTK. Bozon rounded out his completed 20 by beating Streets, Jungle and Depot this year. His feat is a great testament to the passion typical of many great Goldeneye and Perfect Dark players at the elite, playing the game for over 8 years with dedication, desire and heart.
Bozon has made a playlist of his DLTK completions available here; a necessary watch if you are into extremely difficult video game challenges!
Bozon currently holds 11 of the 20 DLTK World Records, 6 LTK World Records, and 2 normal mode World Records.
Back in 2004 when Ilari Pekkala created the “Dark License to Kill” league for Goldeneye, players have slowly accomplished the incredible feats of beating each level one by one as strategies were optimized. Some of these completions when it was all said and done reached times beyond the one hour mark, showing that players need incredible patience to beat levels with these incredible guard statistics (maxed to 1000% on all four options).
With this information established, the last few levels to be beaten was Streets, Train, and Cradle in late 2009/early 2010. With 19 of 20 levels completed, the only one remaining was Silo. Silo was considered to be impossible by nearly every player almost exclusively because of the 8:30 timer that automatically starts on the 00 Agent/007 difficulty. Many players in the last 3 years have collaborated and worked the level to a science, optimizing the most out-of-this-world strategies to clear out 63 total guards in less than 9 minutes with limited ammo and space to work with.
3 years, 330 hours, and $175 USD in bounties later, Adam Bozon presented us with the following video; loaded with annotations and more information than one could ever imagine. One must note that this kind of run requires 3 grenades and incredible patience to get a remote chance at making the final lift intact. The utmost of congratulations go out to Adam for conquering the final frontier in Goldeneye DLTK; may this accomplishment be remembered forever by all of us as time goes on. Enjoy everyone!
We’ve been following the great journey about how would it be possible to beat Cradle on the Dark LTK settings, discussing strats, testing new possibilities etc. And like if it was out of nowhere, Eddie Lovins completed the level in 1:47!!! Yeah you’ve read it right. 1:47! Props to Henrik Norgren who also completed the level in 1:45 a little later, without knowing about Eddie’s strat! How amazing is that! We really can’t do anything here but congratulate both players for their accomplishments, and also props to all the DLTK players who contributed to the strat! (read more about it here).
Now, leaving all the talk aside, watch these two videos above. One is the 1:47 completion from Eddie, and the other one is a 1:21 death where Trev blew himself up the fastest way possible! Unfortunaly there was a guard on the way SILO DARK LTK, HERE WE GO!
Adam Bozon officially beat Train Dark LTK with the time of 29:00. It’s now “official” because Rayan Isran once claimed that he beat Train DLTK a couple of years ago, but he didn’t provide proof for it. So, congrats Bozon! Only two levels to go now (Cradle and Silo)!
4 seconds untied, new glass guard strat, etc.
That’s right guys. Our fellow Silent Foe has beaten STREETS DARK LTK with the time of 8:27. This is considered by many one of the bests achievements ever on the history of the-elite. Check out the AWESOME run on the link below (believe me, you won’t blink watching this):
59 seconds. That’s the ammount of time shaved off on Bunker 1 DLTK on the last 9 days, by 4 different players! Here’s where it ended, at least for now:
In case you don’t know, the Dark License to Kill difficult is known as the hardest challenge possible, in theory, on Goldeneye. It’s defined by playing on 007 mode, with all the settings on the maximum (Health and damage at 1000%, accuracy and reaction speed at 100%).
